The next production at Trinity Theatre, Cowes, is a classic from the 19th century that is just as relevant today.
A Doll’s House, by Henrik Ibsen, was first performed in 1879. Set in a town in Norway, its focus is on Nora, and a woman’s place in her marriage and in society – a subject which caused a storm of outrage at the time.
The play – widely studied at schools and colleges – is being staged on the evenings of Thursday October 12 to Saturday October 14, and ends with a matinee performance on Sunday the 15th.

The theatre has pulled out all the stops to create a unique and imaginative setting devised by the director, Amanda Robertson.
She said the play was intriguing in the way it reveals so much about the characters: ‘I studied it years ago and have always wanted to stage it. It’s gripping and very atmospheric, and although the story seems simple enough, you soon realise there is much more going on.’
She has assembled a strong cast, featuring Rebecca Lennon as Nora; with Kevin Wilson as her husband Torvald; Martyn Stanley as Dr Rank; Nessa Law as Kristine Linde; Philip Barker as Nils Krogstad; Anne Walpole as the Maid; and Carolyn Ferguson as the Nursemaid.
