Welcome to the IW Amateur Theatre Awards 2025, celebrating the fantastic productions our Island enjoyed throughout 2024.
Our judges have attended more than 40 plays, musicals and pantomimes and we are preparing to announce the results of their deliberations at our first Awards Evening at Northwood House on 14th March 2025. During our initial season in 2022-3, we announced awards online and sent out certificates – this year there was clearly an appetite for an event to celebrate our thriving theatre community, hence the Awards Evening.
In keeping with our stated aim of developing gradually and reflecting on the way forward, this first event is held at a low cost to attendees (thanks to Caught Red-Handed Productions who have offered to sponsor and underwrite it) to encourage as many as possible to come along and socialise with their fellow thespians. The House bar will be open through the evening; guests will be seated at tables in a cabaret-style arrangement and there will be time to chat alongside the more formal awards process. If there is the interest, we envisage expanding the event next year to include some live entertainment.

Each of our categories and nominations will be individually celebrated on social media and here as we look forward to finding out who has won the ultimate accolades. You will see again that we have expanded the number of categories of awards this year. Judgements have been very difficult – the standard of shows we have seen has been really high: it’s great to see such a thriving theatrical community.
We haven’t forgotten our young performers – as there are so many talented youngsters, we have decided to hold a separate, less formal, event for them around the same time as the main awards event – details will be announced soon.
