With the support of amateur theatre groups around the Island, we are pleased to say we have completed our first year of judging, and are now considering the 2023 IW Amateur Theatre Awards nominations and looking to the future. Our judges will be meeting shortly and we hope to be able to make an announcement in mid-November.

This year, we don’t plan to have a major awards ceremony, but instead, announce the ‘best of’ via the IW theatre platform, press releases and direct contact with individual theatre groups. Awards this year will be in the form of A4 certificates (digital and/or hard copy) and depending on preference we are happy to organise photo opportunities.

This first attempt at carrying on the spirit of John Hannam’s support for Island theatre is obviously a prototype and, subject to further discussion with the Island amateur theatre community, we would like to continue the Awards scheme for a 2^nd year: our current proposal would be to start that year from 1^st January 2024, which gives us a 3 month reflection period to gather feedback from theatre groups, judges and the community and fine tune the process ready to embark on an improved IW Theatre Awards in 2024.
