NEWS: STAGECRAFT  WORKSHOPS at the Apollo.

Leader: Michael Arnell.

Like most theatre groups on the Island, the Apollo Players stage productions based on a playwright’s script. Some scripts are very good, some are not. It is our task to take those words and deliver them on stage, under the guidance of a appointed Director who has the artistic vision to successfully bring that play to life.

These workshops are open to any adult (not just members) who wishes to learn the stagecraft skills that will improve their ability to deliver their scripted lines. It is not just about diction or projection but developing the skills to realise that tone and pace alter meaning and that any body movement must mirror the spoken words.

VENUE: APOLLO THEATRE, Pyle Street, Newport – STAGE AND AUDITORIUM.

As a preliminary “homework” I would recommend you to read the following piece aloud and then repeat with amusement, anger, sadness, etc.

I’ve just had an Email from you-know-who.

Said as an interested party he should be involved.

Wanted to meet up some time convenient to both of us to discuss.

So, it looks as if everything I expected to happen is happening.

Who would have guessed?
