This wonderful compilation show featured many toe tapping hits from the Top of the Pops years, in a celebration of styles and artists from the sixties right up to date. The whole cast were onstage for most of the show: all knew their sections and placement, and with every song set in a different location this was quite a challenge to achieve.
The performers relished the chance to engage with the audience in group and solo songs, often signing the lyrics as well as singing. The ensemble were engaged, and obviously having fun in the full Top of the Pops style.

Virtually everyone had a solo in this well-staged and dynamic show, allowing performers to push themselves when part of this magnificent team. The dancers demonstrated good rhythm and strong moves, showing confidence and passion in their routines, cleverly choreographed for individual abilities. It would be unfair to single out any individual singer or dancer as this was such an ensemble show, with each and every performer supporting each other and shining in their own way.
The audience were treated to many emotional moments, especially The Sound of Silence, which brought a tear to my eye. Plus, there were lots of comedic elements such as the ‘Let’s Get Physical’ dance routine where supporters were challenged to do extra press ups because they had been slacking!
This show brought everyone to the forefront, helped by backing singers and dancers too. Mention must be made of First Act’s tutors who not only led the hard work in rehearsals which made this show such a success, but were there on and off stage supporting the performers. A real triumph of inclusiveness, and a fantastically entertaining evening. Another brilliant show from First Act – just looking forward to the next one now!
