It’s almost time to head over to The Bay CE School’s secondary site in Sandown to enjoy their amazing production of ‘Legally Blonde Junior Edition’ on the 3rd and 4th of July at 7.30pm in the school hall. Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally Blonde Jr. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show’s instantly recognisable songs are filled with humour, wit and sass will leave you seeing pink!
The school is known for its commitment to high energy productions in which students themselves take full ownership of many of the areas of production that are usually left to the adults. Indeed, The Bay picked up the Technical Involvement Award, celebrating the inclusion of students in the technical sides of a production at the IW Theatre Youth Awards for its ‘High School Musical’ last year. The judges noted that pupils were responsible for costumes and make up; stage management; lighting – “Follow spot was spot on (no pun intended)” – and the sound desk. Not only are they learning that theatre is not just about being onstage, but they’re gaining lots of technical skills, absorbing the concept of teamwork – and it seemed having a jolly good time too!
This year’s cast and crew of ‘Legally Blonde’ are having just as good a time in rehearsals and are confident the show will be just as enjoyable as past shows. Here are comments from just a few of the students involved:
‘I love the show, it’s amazing and we have an incredible cast’
‘It’s been so much fun learning all of the dances and the songs. I have got to know lots of new friends’
‘I hope the audience like pink!’

Even better, we hear that Mr Alabaster is taking the Director’s Chair for the first time – having seen him in performance with some of the top adult Island theatre groups, we know he will bring a fantastic vision to ‘Legally Blonde’. A show not to be missed!
To book your tickets, please go to Legally Blonde The Musical Jr. – Tickets – payment will be by cash on the door. The run time for the production is approximately 75 minutes without an interval. There will be refreshments available before the show, and the school is a cash only venue.
