Students from Theatretrain Isle of Wight recently took to the stage at the world-famous Royal Albert Hall, performing in ‘We’re Gonna Change the World’ – a spectacular national production exploring the changes young people want to see in today’s society.
On stage for nearly the entire performance, the Isle of Wight students showed remarkable stamina, shining in their acting piece, powerful dance numbers, and in the choir. They held the space with passion, energy, strength, and power, impressing a sell-out audience who ended the evening with a prolonged standing ovation.
Theatretrain Artistic Director, Kevin Dowsett, said:
“We’re Gonna Change the World was a triumph! Performed to a sell-out audience, the show ended in a prolonged standing ovation – a real testament to the energy, teamwork, and talent of everyone involved. This show wasn’t just entertainment – it was a celebration of growth, imagination, and the Theatretrain spirit.”

Kevin also reflected on the many standout moments of the evening, including Surface Pressure, Born This Way, Fragile, Trouble in the Water, and the powerful finale The Climb, which captured the show’s central message of unity, hope, and the power of young people to change the world.
Company Director, Julie Caudle, added:
“I am so proud of our students. To see them perform at such an iconic venue, with such professionalism and confidence, was inspiring. They rose to the challenge brilliantly and gave a performance they’ll never forget.”
Remarkably, the students achieved this while also rehearsing for their upcoming production of Kinky Boots, which takes to the stage at Shanklin Theatre on 29 & 30 November 2025. Following the success of recent productions including Footloose, Elf, and We Will Rock You, this year’s show is proving to be their best yet.
